Jose Mari Mercado is the business development director for Convergys Philippines. He is responsible for handling prospects interested in outsourcing their call center operations, working closely with the US Convergys teams to sell the Philippines and its capabilities. In the last seven years, he has hosted over 300 clients and prospects, actively pushing for the Philippines as a destination of choice. He also manages all external relations for Convergys, including the government, the academe, and trade organizations such as Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) and Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP). He is also a member of the board of trustees of BPAP. He graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines. |

As senior executive director, Gillian Virata is responsible for BPAP’s marketing and research service lines, overseeing relations with many of the association’s key stakeholders, and coordinating with other departments of the association through BPAP’s respective executive directors and staff. As research director, she provides industry statistics and information to the public through the publication of annual industry statistics on talent pools, IT-BPO revenues, and employment, and the resulting benefits to the country. The research team also takes charge of compiling the Next Wave Cities™ scorecard, annual report, and the latest industry trends. She has extensive professional experience in world-class research with reputable institutions such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Ayala Corporation, C. Virata & Associates, and SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. |
